THE PROPHECY OF THE POPES

I wanted to take a moment and express our condolences on the recent death of Pope Francis. He led the Catholic Church through humility and grace. I am not Catholic; but I have respect for someone who tries to bring reform and teach that love is the answer to solving the problems of the world. I am happy that he began to speak out and grant LGTBQ people the rights that they should have always had under the Catholic Doctrine. While I still think that the Church has a long way to go, I am happy that Francis began to direct the church on the right path. I am also grateful for the message he recently gave to the US leaders (VP Vance) who went to the Vatican to meet with him. It was a clear and concise message that he gave him. The US must stop the Illegal migrant deportations to El Salvador.

Let’s take a moment of silence to reflect on the man, and the leader. ______________________________________________________________________________________

I would also like to bring to light a 900 year old prophecy know as the Prophecy of the Popes.

Saint Malachy was an Irish saint and was Archbishop of Armagh. Saint Malachy had several miracles attributed to him and is the first Irish born Saint to be canonized. His brother was Gilla Críst Ua Morgair, who was Bishop Christian of Clogher from 1126 to 1138.

He is also known for an alleged vision of 112 popes that became later known as the Prophecy of the Popes. The Prophecy text are 112 cryptic phrases that correspond to every person that was named to the position of Pope. The prophecies were first published in 1595 by the Benedictine Monk Arnold Wion after he rediscovered the texts in the Vatican archive library.

The 112 cryptic texts that were published have, depending on who you talk to, either been labeled authentic, or just a fanciful flight of imagination. To date the Catholic church does not recognize the texts as authentic prophecy and do not hold them in any way truthful.

Like most works of prophecy, the text used is very subjective and many feel that there has to be a lot of squinting to get the descriptions to match the appropriate Popes. Some examples where opponents to the prophecy text say it is hard to reconcile the description to the Pope.

Pope Pius IX -- 1846 to 1878: The text describes this Pope “Cross to Cross.

Many say that this is in reference to his difficulties with the House of Savoy. The House of Savoy has an Emblem of a cross.

Is this an accurate description of this Pope, or is it just a way of reading what you want from a very vague three word text?

Another example of a hard to match text to Pope.

Pope Pius X -- 1903 to 1914: The text describes this Pope “Burning Fire.

This one says that it describes the Zeal of this Pope. I think this one would be easier to believe if he had a fire burn down part of the Cathedral or something.

However, Proponents often point out these recent Popes as having a very accurate description.

Pope John Paul II -- 1978 to 2005:

The text describes this Pope “From the Labour or Eclipse of the Sun.

This is reference to the solar eclipse that occurred on the day of his birth and on the day of his death. The eclipses were in other parts of the world and not where he was at the time.

I have to admit that this one seems pretty accurate and hard to explain.

Pope Benedict XVI -- 2005 to 2013: The text describes this Pope “Glory of the Olive.”

Proponents say that this refers to Pope Benedict belonging to the Olivetan branch or order. He was also said to have brought peace which is represented by the olive branch.

I can see the similarities between the Olive and the Olivetan Order, but I think that most modern Popes could have the same description of offering the Olive Branch for Peace.

Okay, I know what you’re saying, “So What?”

Well, so what refers to the next and the last of the 112 cryptic texts? The next Pope is referred to as: “Peter the Roman”. It is written in the prophecy that this Pope will bring tribulations upon the faithful and the City of Seven Hills will be destroyed. This city being Rome. So, with the destruction of Rome, it will bring an end to the Popes (Catholic Church) and ring in the beginning of the Apocalypse. Every prophesy has to have an Apocalypse.

So why is this relevant? Well Peter the Roman is to be the next elected Pope. Coincidently there are actually three Cardinals named Peter that are believed to be at the top of the list to be the next Pope.

The people most believed to be favored for the position named Peter are:

Cardinal Pietro (Peter in Italian) Parolin; He was appointed by Pope Francis as the Secretary of State for the Vatican. This is the second highest position in the Vatican.

Cardinal Peter Erdo; Cardinal Erdo is from Hungary and is more conservative than Pope Francis. He was also Cardinal during the time his country slipped into authoritarian rule.

Cardinal Peter Turkson; Cardinal Turkson could become the first African Pope in the Catholic Church. He is from Ghana and was appointed Cardinal by Pope John Paul II.

While there are many other prime candidates, I point out these three because of their shared name Peter in reference to the Prophecy for Peter the Roman. I think out of these three the closest match would be Cardinal Parolin. Now I am in NO way saying that I believe this man will bring on the crash of the church and usher in the Apocalypse. However, he is Italian and that is a reference to Roman.

I also know what you’re going to say

But Pope Francis was the 112 Pope, He should have been Peter the Roman”.

Where this is true, many that follow the Prophecies and believe that it foretells doom and gloom (Oh, by the way I forgot to mention that the Apocalypse is in 2027. Less than two years after the death of Pope Francis). Pope Benedict didn’t die in office and therefore the 111 Pope to die in the position would be Pope Francis. So, while there was an extra Pope thrown into the mix, it would have to be Popes that die in that current position to fit the Prophecy matrix.

So, does the world end in 2027? So many prophets and prophecies have tried to determine the date of Armageddon, yet here we still are. Why do we always look for signs of doom and gloom and not spend the time enjoying the here and now? I guess when the world begins to look scary and threats of war and economic strive are everywhere. People will always look for signs that it will be okay. I’m not so sure that if you look at this as a sign, that everything will be just okay.
